During the first message in our "Spheres of Influence" series, Jeremy introduced a tool to help identify the people in our lives who we have the ability to impact with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether it is to invite someone to worship, Bible study, or another activity at Pathway or if we plan to have a gospel conversation, the people we already know are the ones who we have the best opportunity to reach. What is the map above?

Our map is the combination of the traditional Spheres of Influence concept popularized by Steven Covey and the evangelistic OIKOS Map tool. A Sphere of Influence is the concept where an individual evaluates the things in their circles of control, influence, or concern. When it comes to our faith, the only thing we control is our own decision to trust in Jesus. We are hopefully concerned about many people but we may not have existing relationships to impact them. Our time is best spent reaching those in our current life activities. Read this article to learn more about the idea of Spheres of Influence. You can also learn the concepts behind the creation of an OIKOS Map. We feel the combination of determining spheres of influence is our best first step followed by identifying people in those areas of life we can invite or share a gospel conversation.
