Navigating Relationships: Alone in a Crowd

Speaker: Jeremy Flanagan

Jesus’ last prayer before being betrayed was to ask that we experience perfect unity. Jesus came to intersect with humanity instead of just passing down laws from on high. God knows the benefit of and tells us our need to have real, in-person relationships. There are things they provide that nothing virtual or distant can. We will spend time talking about the effect social media has on the forming of relationships but also how we can even worship together on Sunday morning while avoiding deeper connections with those around us.

https://martinschmidtinasia.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/technology-and-youth-disconnect-perspectives-from-international-school-students/ - In studying for the sermon I found an interesting article written by a teacher to international school students in Hong Kong about their view of “Technology and Youth Disconnect”. He compiled his students responses to their discussions on how technology has both made connection easy but can also lead to loneliness. Definitely worth a read.
